Since 2013, Footprint’s grant making approach has put relationship at the center of our process.

We’ve worked to cultivate relationships, convene partners, invest in leadership, and encourage collaboration with people/organizations doing work in four focus areas: creative culture, environment, learning, and social justice.

We value efforts that:

  • Attract, retain, and grow talent

  • Generate new leadership

  • Take risks

  • Explore new ideas and approaches

  • Support collaborations

  • Engage under-served populations

  • Enrich public spaces

  • Build community

We see our grants as investments in people with new ideas for strengthening community.

GRANT REQUESTS

Grant requests are received by invitation only. Our grantmaking supports efforts specific to Chattanooga TN and Northern California. Footprint does not make grants toward capital campaigns, capital projects, or annual campaigns, nor does the foundation buy tables for fundraising events.

Please note that as of 2023, Footprint is changing its grantmaking strategy and will not be making new grants until a new strategy and process has been (re)defined.
