Pablo Mazariegos

Pablo produces short films to help people connect with one another. The majority of his early films highlight the resiliency of Latin women and immigrant children in public education. He is originally from Guatemala and grew up in Raleigh, NC.

Pablo is a Marriage and Family Therapist - when he is not producing films, he is facilitating counseling groups in the schools, and motivating children to reflect on their own story and engage in empathy. His philosophy is that “healing begins when our experience is felt and understood.”

What did it mean to be recognized with the Footprint Award?

My friends planned the meeting where I received the Footprint award without my knowledge, so I was surprised. I couldn’t believe what just happened! Receiving this award motivated my passion to serve and to continue producing stories.

 Who inspires you? Why?

Public school educators that go beyond their job description and wake up every morning determined to bring hope and empowerment to their students. They teach me that vulnerability is something manageable and beautiful.

What inspires you to do your work?

Listening to people's life stories and tuning my emotions to their experience.  Connecting and understanding their desire is what moves me to produce stories.

What is one wish you have for Chattanooga?

To become a city where stories are not limited to large media entities but are being crafted and shared everywhere and by everyone.
